STAMFORD -- 8 year old Daniela Delgado has always loved to whip-up treats.  Since she was little, she has watched her parents who make cakes for a living.

“I think I kind of know a little bit of their pain,” explains Daniela who was born with a blood disorder called Von Willebrand Disease. She is learning to infuse herself with medication: “Sometimes I wake up and I’m choking on my own blood because it just bleeds.”

While the risk of complication is always there - Daniela is doing well. So, she does all she can to help others who may not be as fortunate. She is making friends and learning lessons.

“She has come to understand that every kid out there is actually the same,” says her dad Nemorio.

“They’re sick and then when you give them the cake, they smile,” says Daniela. “That smile gives me a warm feeling.”
